Why a 2027 tour makes sense

Saxon are one of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal's last bands standing, and they have never slowed down. Frontman Biff Byford produced the new album himself, with Judas Priest guitarist Andy Sneap mixing — a pairing that underlines the band's standing among metal's old guard. Gods of Thunder is the band's 25th studio album, and the tour's staging leans into history: the legendary 30-foot mechanised Eagle, built in the early 1980s by Midlands-based LSD using airport runway landing lights for the Denim and Leather era, flies again for the UK and Ireland shows and at Brussels, Zurich, Cologne and Tilburg.

The routing is classic Saxon: a full UK and Ireland sweep in February, then a fast, dense European club-and-theatre run in March, from Brussels to Tilburg via Scandinavia, Central Europe and Italy. For a band formed in Barnsley in the late 1970s, a 28-date start to 2027 is business as usual — and the Eagle's return makes it an event, not just a tour.

Ticket and presale info

UK and Ireland tickets are on sale now, including through Planet Rock Tickets. European tickets go on sale in stages: Italian shows from October 27, Zurich from October 28, Oslo from October 29, and all other European shows from October 30, 2026. Check the band's official tour dates page for the on-sale time in your market, and note the Cardiff show is the one UK and Ireland date where the Eagle cannot fly, due to venue restrictions.

Where to check for updates
