Why a 25th-anniversary tour makes sense

Will Young's 2002 Pop Idol victory was one of the defining pop-culture moments of the early 2000s, and his career since has outlasted the format that launched it. His debut double A-side "Anything Is Possible / Evergreen" sold more than 1.7 million copies in the UK, making it one of the best-selling UK singles of all time, and he has since collected two BRIT Awards, four UK No. 1 albums, eleven Top 10 albums and eleven Top 10 singles.

His most recent album, "Light It Up", reached the UK Top 5 in 2024 and was supported by a sold-out acoustic tour. The anniversary shows are being positioned as the counterpart to that run — intimate sets replaced by a full-band celebration of every era of his catalogue.

In the announcement Young framed the tour as a thank-you to the fans who have stayed with him: "To reach 25 years is a privilege and an honour... People voted and trusted me and that has forever been a dream come true." A new live performance of "Evergreen", recorded as part of The Evergreen 25th Anniversary Sessions, was released alongside the announcement.
